...
Then there they were-two different crowds of people. The red crowd grew silent and emotional as their hero giving the concession speech. John McCain has been and will still be the legendary figure of America. Though failed to weave its magic on the campaign trail, the word “maverick” is still his. For that moment, any kind of character attacks died down. The most frequent word used to describe him and his speech went back to “gracious”. Another scene in Chicago, however, the blue crowd went high. The brand-new President-elect Barack Obama made a quick transition to his new identity. The look on his face was all about responsibility and promise, of course also some sweetness when he thanked his family and promised his daughters the puppy, which will become the “First Pet” of the United States.
That moment, the whole world went emotional. It seemed that America had suddenly regained its respectability, wounds healed, mist wiped out and hope rising. Ideology and interest aside, the world shared a sweet moment on that big day. It went beyond the US board and reached out to the world; it became a global festival. I was so lucky to be part of it.
Then I was suddenly at a loss. The election was finally over, then what’s next? I mean I have been tracking the campaign trail for like half a year. Sometimes I felt it was part of my “career”. Maybe I will start reading some history, or literature-I’m not sure. For Mr Obama, crisis is deep and expectations great, and for me, this is also the start of something new. The rest is still unwritten.
